Dick Bruna and Utrecht: Forever Together
9 Nov 2019, 11 a.m. - 1 Mar 2020, 5 p.m.
Dick Bruna and Utrecht: Forever Together at Studio Dick Bruna.
From November 9th 2019 till march 1st 2020, the Centraal Museum in Utrecht will showcase an exhibition about the warm relationship between the city of Utrecht and one of its most beloved artists, graphic designers and children's book makers: Dick Bruna. On display will be many of his designs (some of which were never on show before) made specifically for organizations and companies in the city and the municipality of Utrecht. These will be flanked by historical objects, newspaper clippings and photographs. There will be objects on display from special or commemorative events in town, which show the importance of Dick Bruna for the city, it's officials and its inhabitants. And one of the galleries will be filled with photographs of sites within the city of Utrecht, which have special relevance to Dick Bruna, such as Miffy Square and the Miffy traffic lights in the city centre. The exhibition will be held next to the reconstructed Studio of Dick Bruna which has a permanent place in the Centraal Museum, joining the two into one large exhibition expanding the entire second floor of the museum.
The exhibition is made possible through the support of Mercis bv in The Netherlands, who is the publisher of DickBruna's books and manages the rights on his work worldwide.
